​Four satisfied business partners are once again renewing their agreement to continue the sustainable freight transportation of wood chips and pulpwood from Norway to Sweden. The new three-year agreement between BillerudKorsnäs, Moelven, Grenland Rail and Green Cargo starts this December.

The first scheduled freight train is now in service on the industrial track to the new freight port, Stockholm Norvik Port. Ports of Stockholm built the railway line, which will enable more sustainable transportation and expands the different transportation alternatives to and from the port.

Over the Easter weekend the industrial branch line that Ports of Stockholm has built to Stockholm Norvik Port was connected to the railway network and electrified. This creates a direct railway link to and from the port on the Green Cargo intermodal network for national and international transport.

​The direct line, with three trains a week in each direction, is not only the fastest transportation alternative, it is also a more reliable and climate-smart alternative. Not only does it reduce carbon dioxide emissions by 63% compared with road freight over the same distance, it also decreases road congestion.

The Swedish Transport Administration is building the West Link to create a railway for commuter and regional trains in a tunnel under central Gothenburg. Green Cargo is transporting around 8,600 tonnes of sheet piling to the tunnel site, removing almost 370 truckloads from roads to and within central Gothenburg.

In mid-November, Green Cargo began installing a new type of brake disc that will be tested on mail wagons over the winter. If the project is successful, more wagons will have their brake discs replaced.

​Endelig høst! Vi i jernbanebransjen går alltid inn i sommerperioden med en viss usikkerhet. Har vi dimensjonert trafikken riktig? Vil antall lokførere og terminalarbeidere være nok, og finnes de på riktig sted? Og la det ikke bli for fint vær, for mye varme og sol øker risikoen for driftsforstyrrelser, og det blir vanskeligere å finne medarbeidere som vil jobbe ekstra.
